What amazing weather we had for the 3 days. Friday and Saturday were particularly hot with all players coping well. Saturday afternoon saw the weather turn with thunder and lightning all around and just a few drops of rain!!! Cannot believe how lucky we were. Players who were staying both north and south of Ulladulla, could not get to the courts due to the excessive hail, however with good fortune, the storm passed, and the mixed doubles continued.
For a first for Ulladulla, ‘Twilight Tennis’ was played on the Saturday evening in Ladies and Men’s Doubles. This was due to the substantial number of entries. Feedback from these players was incredibly positive and so much cooler. It was great to see many players who played in this tournament for the first time and so many of our regulars returning.
A number of our locals played in the tournament with impressive results:
Bill Kinser R/U Men’s Singles 50-65,
Todd De Leeuw Winner Men’s Doubles 30-50,
Mark Hood Winner Men’s Doubles 35-60,
Geoff Cook & Bill Kinser Winner Men’s Doubles 60-70,
Mark Stiller R/U Men’s Doubles 45-65,
Gavin Shepherd R/U Men’s Doubles 50-65,
Juliann Jacobsen Winner Ladies Doubles 35-50,
Herb Chee & John Whittaker R/U Combined Age Men’s Doubles 140,
Deb Loves & Kerri Cassidy Winner Combined Age Ladies Doubles 95-110,
A huge thank you to our sponsors, Mollymook Golf Club, Ulladulla Bowling Club, Ulladulla’s Furniture 4U, Tennis Southeast Region, and Ulladulla Printing Services.
And another huge thank you to all our volunteers who spent the weekend making lots of sandwiches and the many cakes and slices serving the players and visitors. Plus, the helpers who worked on creating our new gardens making our centre truly inviting. We could not have the tournament without the support from so many people.
